I celebrate the second day of Christmas with quiet enthusiasm.

Passing Shot: Flower Power
Passing Shot: South Lake Tahoe’s Zephyr Cove – Douglas County Nevada
Ascending the mountainside to reach hole 15 at the Zephyr Cove Disc Golf Course is a rewarding challenge. Hiking to an elevation of 6,348 feet above sea level with a 30 pound pack requires a steady pace of confident foot placement and intermittent stops for water and an intake of the views.

American Ninja Terrier: Big Adventures of a Little Dog
Stella works hard to keep the neighborhood vermin and feral cats away from our home and garden. She remains vigilant, even while sleeping.

Beyond Amusement: Visual Inspiration
Every artist has a muse and every muse, an artist. Mine are dressed in yellow and green. Sunflowers continue to bloom this week in the garden with stunningly brilliant perfection.

Radiating Brilliance
Vibrant yellow petals lure me to the garden’s edge. I measure the stalks and make note of nature’s brilliant accomplishment.

Flower Power: A New Alternative Energy
I paused between harvesting berries and thinning carrots this morning to admire the progress of this volunteer Sunflower’s growth. We plant the beauties along the fence line as a decorative heat deflecting measure and partial shade for our lettuce.
The errant seeds that germinate in random places in our yard are welcomed surprises.

Backyard Orchard Practice Basket
The plums may be ready to harvest in August or September, and my thirty-foot putts will improve with daily practice.

Passing Shots: Newport Rhode Island
A budding tree holds ground amid blooming daffodils in Newport Rhode Island. I pause mid-step on the Cliff Walk just long enough to catch a balanced shot.

Poetry for Guitar: Picture Postcard Lullabys
I went travelling down a long paved road
listening to the radio playing
I heard a song about a white winged dove singing.
There were shore lined miles of open sky
A picture postcard lullaby
the mocking bird just could not sing
so I was trying.
I watched the golden hills roll by me
A speed limit sign read forty-five
But I felt
like I was flying.
